Allison of just another case of mistaken identity sent me a little blog award what WHAT. Thanks girl -everyone needs a little blog loving every once in a while! Oh yeah, a few things I'm supposed to do:

1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which you think are FABULOUS.
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

These ladies (and gent) are awesome:
1. Lady Droid - Best blog I've seen in a long time. Sparse and rare posts, but totally worth it.
2. Seeing Pink Elephants - Something about "not the girls next door, more like the girls down the block" I know them IRL, so I know they ain't lying. LOVE THEM.
3. Life in Technicolor - Leyandrea is a smart cookie --it shows in her classy style and writing. Really great place to get some fashion news, too.
4. Miu Miu Doll - We both love Miu Miu and her illustrations/photographs are gorgeous. That is all.
5. Almost Stylish - Oh hey this is me Cathy Voyage I live in Germany (?) and these are the things I wear everyday. Awesome use of color and her hair always looks so lovely.
6. the cherry blossom girl - She lives in a fairytale in Paris. Seriously. super girl fest sparkle glitter pink ruffles fun pillowfight marshmallow hug. Heart.
7. Mom and Son- Fashionable new mom who has fun dressing up her little bundle of joy Mr. Freddy. So cute. Just wait until he's in high school.
8. DISCOFUNBATH - New York street style from a New York stylist. I'm convinced I'll be living in her refrigerator come summer time.
9. Quinntessential Style - BRAND SPANKIN' NEW blog from the ever stylish Quinn. I know her IRL, too.
10. Vernacular Spectacular - Oh you know just the same old blog full of AWESOME things YOU WILL LIKE. I promise. Oh, did I mention I know her IRL?
11. how to impress a hipster - For fun. Alerts you to the fact that you are, despite your protestations, a hipster. AND he likes Kylie, as in Kylie Minogue, so that's cool in my book.

Everyone I know has a blog. This guy went to Korea and then the whole thing just blew up. Am I right? AM I RIGHT?

Um so I'm flipping through the pages of this month's , totally avoiding my thesis, when what do I spy but a super cute gray sweatshirty-blazer. Yeah it's probably from Mr. Wang and like $500, right? WRONG.

Introducing Norma Kamali for Walmart!

Instantly chic, ultra versatile navy batwing cardi (also comes in black, white, gray). Ignore how awkward this model looks. I bet this thing is fab in person.

I'm a sucker for oldschool preppy canvas and leather duffles. I have like 4 of these, no lie. You know because I've got a gym membership and all.

Adorable gingham skirt that would be so perfect for summer or the day when I finally have a real job.

I have been on the hunt for a pair of slim fitting, banded ankle sweatpants that aren't harem or dropcrotch (amazing that that's all you can find these days). These are pretty much perfect, although I'd love them even more if they were full length. Gangly chicken ankles are not cute poking out of these things.

Did I mention everything is under $20? And when I say under, I don't mean everything is $19.99. I mean like $10. With $.97 shipping?
OK OKAY Walmart, YOU WIN. I hate you.

Cole Mohr True Story Part Deux: As it turns out he's super annoying in the Ihaven'ttakenmyadderalrecently kind of way. Though I admit I did laugh.

Shout out to Tyler Riggs. He takes a wonderfully creepy picture.

And at 21, he just may qualify me for dirty old lady status alongside Alpha. Cougars, I think they call it.

I know I said I'll be disappearing, and I am, I swear, but this is sooooo much better than thesisizing right now. I had a sad moment earlier so I need to cheer myself up.

Yesterday I went to a barbecue to celebrate my friend passing her thesis. She is already finished and I am just starting. 2800 words out of 15,000. No biggie. But seriously, congrats Marijo!

At first I tried to wear tights and my Annie Hall hat:

But then I decided it was too hot to actually wear the tights/hat combo.

Vintage hat (thrifted), Alternative Apparel tee, Vintage braided leather belt (thrifted), second hand Old Navy skirt, Hue tights, J Crew wedges (thrifted)

I'm sort of obsessed with those shoes I have on. I found them thrifting about a month ago. I call them my ballerina shoes because from dead-on it looks like I'm toe-pointing the whole time. I'm not sure if it's the ankle ties or the angle of the heel or both. Either way I love them because they are cute and super comfortable!

In other news, I'm really starting to get irritated that my little heart guy that distinguishes my page (the FAVICON as they call it) keeps disappearing. It shows up as a blank page when my link is broken or now the blogger symbol again?! Woe is me. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know a *good* host for .ico files?

You may now return to whatever cool thing it is that you were doing.

Just this morning I was thinking about how much I love Lindsay and need her back in my life cuz we're tight like that. Then Nylon goes and puts her on the cover. Oh shiiiiiiiiiiizz

This guy is from Texas.
You probably know him because he's the one wearing ladies' frocks and bags and shoes in the Marc by Marc Jacobs ads. He's not really my cup of tea except for maybe in that v neck --HELLO RIDICULOUS BLUE EYES-- but I do find myself strangely attracted to his tattoo. The AprilMayJune one scrawled across his decolletage. Anyone know the significance? Do boys have decolletage? It's killing me.

Oh and I'll be disappearing for a while. Life is hectic and I have to write my thesis in the next 2 weeks or so. You know, master's degree whatevs NBD WTF FML. My defense is on April 15th. After that, FREEDOM! well, sort of.

um I want this.
I want to hype it to deathhhh.
LOOKBOOK.NU, pick me! pick me!

(anyone got an invite to spare?)

The small uproar over the Missoni collection I posted last week inspired me to make yet another Missoni post. Three times a charm or something. Behold, my collection of one:

A tiny slip of fabric that contains more scarf badassery than a stack of pancakes. Mm yummm.

It's a good thing to wear when you're expecting beer sprays, trashcans, and the possibility that 3 Israeli dudes will rub their balls on you in the holy name of rock 'n roll.

Missoni scarf (gift), vintage sequined top, American Eagle shorts, whatever tights, Nine West jazz booties (ebay)

I wore this to the Monotonix show last week so I could blend in with the cool kids. Sequined tops double as invisibility cloaks.

The dudes from Monotonix are so legit. They play on the floor, on tables, on banisters, wherever. They literally pick up their music makers and hop around in crazy shakin' Brownian motion. They even made it outside and down the street to the stop sign. The best part: the music never stops. NEVER.

Check it out about 2 1/2 minutes in. I really don't know how they do it.

If you are getting drunk and retarded, this show is amazing. If you aren't, it's mind blowing.

What do you wear if the photo shoot for the magazine you are working on is an all day outdoor affair and it's already a spicy 80 degrees in your native land??

Stop. Wait. Hold up a minute. What's this Blair Waldorf shenanigans going on in mah hairs?

EXTREME CLOSE-UP of the latest addition to my accessories wardrobe. This giant gaudfest of a headband has just enough Marc Jacobsy kitsch to make it awesomely bad in the good way.

Love Culture headband, vintage 80s silk top, American Eagle shorts, Dolce Vita flats

AAAAAahhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHH..... somehow I missed my own blog birthday! It was 367 days ago that on a particularly distracting night, I couldn't get a story idea out of my brain. So I blurt it all out in the form of a Microsoft Word document freeing myself from whatever the opposite of writer's block is; writer's flow I suppose. And then, and I really don't remember where I got the idea from, I published it to blogger. I knew NOTHING about blogging WHATSOEVER and I didn't even plan on sharing it with anyone. I don't think I had ever even viewed a blog before save for my friends' on myspace.

Well, I did share it with two people, my sister and her boyfriend. You know like hey guys I respect you, what do you think about this? Next thing I know it's blasted all over myspace and facebook. Thanks guys.

No seriously, thank you. Ashford Gets Dressed was born a year ago, with no vision or destination in mind. In fact, I pretty much ignored it for 6+ months, letting the weedy blogosphere swallow it whole. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with this thing, what it was for, or if I liked it. Figuring it out has been a struggle and a labor of love (seriously, these things take up wayyyy more time than you would think). I'm still working on it. Bear with me. One day this half-blown dandelion will be a field of poppies glowing brilliantly in the sun.

I want to thank you all for your support, comments (ugly and beautiful) and suggestions. Although I get embarrassed when people (usually drunk ones) yell "HEYYYY I READ YOUR BLOGGGG" in my ear, it truly makes my heart all warm and gooey. Not only that, having an audience pushes me to learn more, do more, grow more. I am a more complete person.

From my whole heart, I would like to thank each and every one of you, near and far, for being a part of my virtual and real life. To another year!
